A Work of God at the 2017 Africa Missions Conference

People from all nations praising God with one voice at the Calvary Chapel Africa Missions Conference 2017

As the global shift of mission takes place and so many are coming to Christ on the continent, Africa seems ablaze with opportunity and it is an incredibly exciting time to be on the continent. The possibility for the Calvary Chapel movement to invest in great men and women committed to the Gospel is proving to be unlimited and options of engaging new territory, the training of leaders, and the planting of churches is pregnant with possibility as the Spirit of God sweeps across as region.

With the teachings focused on the Power of the Gospel, specifically through Paul’s journeys in Acts 13 and 14, the Calvary Chapel Africa Missions Conference was filled with a wealth of prayer, anticipation, and preparation.

The eagerness to grow, worship, and be together in fellowship was evident as you arrived at the centre. On top of that there was a marked excitement about the possibility of sending people to all the nations.

What made this year a unique experience is that there were representatives nine African countries, and all the five regions of Africa gathered for the first time and local African leaders took the main portion in teaching. It was an astonishing time to be a part of and watch the work of God among us, and to see God raise up new generations of people and display the depth in the movement of African Bible teachers.

Times of prayer helped us to align our hearts with the Lord's vision for AfricaThrough an exceptional time of teaching, worship, and prayer, the conference allowed for a fresh vision, stirring up as deep relationships were built between nations and peoples. It seems genuine compassion was truly stirred towards going and giving to the continent. Connections between ministries were made, and people and plans were set to work together for the expansion of the kingdom. Many are feeling a new boldness and empowering for the Great Commission.

It is evident that God is moving and developing a broader reach for the continents as we focus efforts and point ourselves on specific mission. We are witnessing God’s Spirit accomplish great things in a people He deeply loves and desires to reach through local leaders and Spirit empowered movements.

Pastor Sean Housman of CC Muai was part of the team who ministered to the childrenA group from Calvary Chapel Central Maui deeply invested with great fruit in the next generation as they worked with children and youth whose hearts were equally stirred by the Spirit, and commitments were made to follow and love God and be available to His service.

God was at work in the hearts of people as relationships were built, as people were empowered for service, people gave of the resources to help others, and lives were truly changed as one young lady committed her life to Christ and was baptized.

In the end it was difficult to leave such a powerful time together.

This coming week we will publish individual testimonies of how the Lord was working in and through people at this year’s conference as well as the vision as we plot ahead. It is amazing to know that it is the Lord Jesus who has made the way for this work and is raising up the people to walk in it.
